Volunteers play a significant and valuable role in helping us deliver our mission and is a
rewarding and meaningful opportunity. You’ll be part of a supportive, committed team of women— diverse in experience but united in purpose. We offer a range of varied and purposeful tasks, aiming to match your skills and interests wherever possible. You’ll receive ongoing support and supervision, along with opportunities to develop new skills through our varied training sessions held throughout the year.
As an organisation supporting women and children affected by domestic violence, our volunteer roles are open to women only. This aligns with the Occupational Requirement as set out in the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
Women who have previously received support from WAL must have been out of service for a minimum of one year before becoming eligible to volunteer. The same applies to any woman who, although not a former service user, identifies as having experienced domestic violence.
This policy is in place to support the wellbeing of volunteers and to ensure that their experience is both positive and mutually beneficial.
At Women’s Aid Luton, no two days are the same. As a volunteer, you may support a range of day-to-day operational tasks, from administrative duties to assisting with enrichment activities and creative workshops. We’re proud to celebrate a diverse cultural calendar, and you may also be involved in helping plan and deliver events to ensure they run smoothly.
We ask for a minimum commitment of four hours a week. Our volunteering opportunities are during office hours Monday to Friday.
The first step in any prospective volunteer’s journey is to complete the application form. Once this has been reviewed, we will invite you for an interview. All our roles
are subject to an Enhanced DBS check and two references.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Could you help with childcare? Do you speak another language? Are you an amazing organiser? If so we would love to hear from you.
