Our services offer a lifeline to women and children fleeing domestic abuse. With your help we can continue to be there for them. Some families that come into our service have fled with nothing but the clothes they arrive in and the children rarely get to bring along favourite toys and comfort possessions. 

Women’s Aid in Luton is only able to carry out support because of the continued generosity of individuals, local community groups and corporate supporters to help us to continue to provide this vital support. See below for ways in which you can help.

We are running our “Home Is Where The Heart Is” campaign throughout March and need your help!

We aim to raise £5,000 to transform five bedrooms in one of our refuges, creating a more healing space for mothers and children fleeing abuse.

Right now, these shared bedrooms are uninviting, lack storage, and don’t optimise space. Many survivors associate home with fear and trauma – we want their new spaces to feel safe, calm, and stress-free.

With guidance from a top interior designer, we’ll reconfigure layouts, add smart storage, update flooring and furniture, and introduce soothing colours and textures. These trauma-informed spaces will foster security, relaxation, and recovery, complementing our wider support services.

Donations of Goods

Women’s Aid in Luton needs a variety of new or good quality items in order to help women and children in refuge as well as once they move on living independently in the community.  The following items are  of assistance;

  • Non- perishable food items: tinned goods, pasta, coffee, tea sugar.
  • Toiletry items:  Shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap (un-opened)

Women leaving the refuge also frequently need to start up home and need the following items:

  • General furniture
  • New kitchen items
  • Home decor items
  • Other household items

PLEASE NOTE WE CANNOT TAKE ANY ELECTRICAL ITEMS

Please call us before donating any items on 01582 876636 and we will let you know if there is a current need as we have limited space to store items. 

Food Vouchers/Gift Cards:

Many of the women we help come to us without any source of income so are not able to purchase food for themselves or their children. We never see any of our women go without and try to provide them best we can with sufficient food items. However, donations of vouchers or gift cards would prove invaluable for many reasons including; allowing our ladies who follow a religion or have special diet requirements to go out and select what they require, ones who have intolerances or allergies and of course just simply to have the freedom to have a choice in what they eat.
